Symposion is a "casual" larp set in an Ancient Fantasy setting, which takes place during an equivalent to the Olympic games. You can take part in various ceremonies, sports and creative disciplines, fight in a phalanx with larp weapons and hold a traditional symposium in the evening. There will be plenty of opportunities to socialize as well.
The setting of Symposion is low fantasy and features a variety of cultures inspired by historical peoples. All of those are completely open to international participants and we'll try to find some local players from your faction, who will help you enjoy the game. In our experience, Czech players are very welcoming to foreign players and don't have a problem with English.
We aim for a relatively high costuming standard, but thankfully, the fashion of the Ancient world is much simpler to emulate than the more typical medieval or renaissance settings. The patterns for basic costumes for each nation can be found in the Národy section. You can play as:
Chelonoi- Classical Greeks of the 5.-4. Centuries BC, wearing simple chitons and chlamyses.
Dimitti- Italic tribes and "shorthaired" Gauls of the 5.-3. Centuries BC, who favor short sleeved tunics, stolas and togas.
Atloi- People of the sunken Atloitis, dressed as Bronze age Mycenaeans and Minoans in colorful layered skirts and short sleeved jackets.
Epitrakos- A mix of Scythians and Balkan tribes, who are the only culture at the Games that regularly wears pants. Those are strikingly decorated, much like their buttonless kaftans and trophy displays.
Realm Enduring- Egyptians of the New Kingdom in flowing plain robes and skirts. The simple clothing draws attention to their garish jewelry. Their subject nations draw inspiration from various Persian cultures and Hellenic era Greeks.
To join the fighting, you will need your own appropriate gear, but we can lend you weapons that fit our style of combat and some parts of the panoply. You can find the document going over the equipment here: Symposion Fighter's Guide
